WEIJA DAM SPILLAGE- Due to the heavy downpour in the catchment area of the Densu River basin, Management of Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has begun minimal spillage of excess water from the dam as at Sunday 11th October, 2020. Management of GWCL therefore wishes to inform members of the general public as well as institutions and organizations who have properties downstream of the dam to take note and act accordingly since information from the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMA) indicates that there will be more rains. Meanwhile the GWCL, NADMO and other sector agencies are making arrangement for the provision of water and other services to the people displaced by the flood. Affected communities include; Tetegu, Oblogo, Pambros Salt, Lower McCarthy Hill, Lower Weija, Bojo Beach, Ada Kopey and surrounding communities.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS - MRS. SERENA KWAKYE - MINTAH

Mrs. Serena Kwakye-Mintah is the staff representative on the Board of Directors of GWCL. She joined the then Ghana Water Sewerage Corporation in November 1990 as a national service person and later gained permanent employment in January 1992.

 

She rose through the ranks and was appointed Head of the Management Information Systems (MIS) of the then Accra Tema Metropolitan Area (ATMA) of GWCL in 1999, where she was involved in the design and implementation of the billing and payroll systems of the company.

 

She was in charge of payroll for the entire GWCL and billing for ATMA. Her work also entailed assisting the MIS Team to define ICT needs in coordination with the users, constantly exploring the need for improving ICT operations, efficiency and utilization of ICT tools.

 

She was appointed ICT Manager between September 2006 and March 2010 when Aqua Vitens Rand Limited (AVRL) had a management contract with GWCL. She was in charge of data collection, analysis, coding and interpretation. She also designed and developed GWCL’s systems for cash collection (i-cash). From April 2010 to July 2013 she was in charge of ICT Projects with AVRL and GWCL, supervising team members and implementing various ICT projects.

 

She holds a Master’s Degree in Governance and Leadership from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). She is currently stationed at the Head Office as an ICT Manager.
