About the Right To Information (RTI)

The Right to Information Act, 2019 (ACT 989) was passed by Parliament of Ghana in 2019, and assented to by the President same year to give constitutional right to access to information held by public institutions.

The Ghana Water Company Limited recognizes the importance of the RTI law to foster a culture of transparency and accountability in public affairs particularly in a democratic society like Ghana.

Our RTI implementation plans and procedures are guided by five fundamental principles relevant to access to information. These principles are:

  1. legal guarantees of access to information
  2. proactive disclosure
  3. access to information implementation and procedures
  4. adherence to best international standards and respect for individuals
  5. right to privacy.

In accordance to the law, the Right to Information Officer is located at the GWCL Head Office, precisely the Public Relations department as the contact to such cause.
